ABOUT ME
Naima Smith

Congratulations and welcome to the first step in changing your life! I'm your coach, Nai! Growing up in the Bay Area of California, I participated in athletics year-round as a swimmer but had no experience lifting weights. Once I began my undergrad, I fell victim to on-campus meal options and unhealthy sedentary habits. I got on the elliptical but that was the extent of my visits to the gym. I kept up this lifestyle while working a high stress job in education and nearly a decade of poor habits resulted in me gaining 50 pounds. Knowing I needed a change, I became more active, developed a yoga practice, and started strength training at home. I got my ACE Personal Training certification and have continued to educate myself through specialized programs. I lost that 50 lbs and, for the first time, I truly fell in love with what my body could do. I want to replicate my success and create programming that offers flexible solutions no matter the goal. A well-tailored fitness plan is not only transformative for your body but also life-changing for your mind.

I spent 3 years helping develop personal training programs for firefighters that focused on building strength, endurance, and mobility to handle physically demanding tasks like carrying heavy equipment and rescuing victims. A well-rounded personal training plan also incorporates proper nutrition and recovery strategies to ensure firefighters remain in peak physical condition. Incorporating meditation helps firefighters manage stress, improve focus, and enhance resilience in high-pressure situations. Departments that incorporated training programs into their shifts, had less injuries reported. Functional training is for all bodies and all skill levels to make daily tasks a breeze.
